Biography
Magical melodies and a clear, beautiful voice, resonate in strong song structures -- with interesting instrumentation and high quality arrangements. Jude Vadala goes DEEPER with 12 new songs currently in production.

The car radio broke. That's when Jude Vadala started singing. Then she got an autoharp, then a piano, then a guitar, a mandolin, another guitar, and then a fiddle... almost all of which hang on her kitchen wall. She has been a tenacious member of the Guelph, Ontario music scene for near 30 years, while her musical adventures have also taken her across Canada and the U.S.

With the critically acclaimed group The Bird Sisters, she honed her skills as a songwriter, and recording artist. She has produced five albums, and been appreciated for her work in the recording studio as a vocalist on over 50 musical projects -- with artists such as Tannis Slimmon, James Gordon, Harri Palm, Jah Youssouf, Katherine Wheatley, Scott Merritt and Lewis Melville.

Jude has also shared the stage with Sarah McLachlan, Jane Siberry, Bare Naked Ladies, Wendell Ferguson, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Stephen Fearing, Eliza Gilkinson, Greg Brown, Willie P. Bennett, Gwen Swick, Loreena McKennitt, Rheostatics, Trout Fishing in America, Fred J. Eaglesmith and even Emmy Lou Harris (in her dreams).

More Praise for Different Stories, Bird Sisters:

Interestingly the trio's songs and vocal styles span the spectrum of folk forms, from madrigals through country and gospel to rhythm and blues. Despite the intricacy of the harmonies, they remain uncluttered, unaffected and unselfconscious. Similarly the songs deal with basic themes - love, family, the pain of illness, the fragility of the natural world, spiritual awakening - expressed simply. In simplicity lies much of the grace, beauty and eloquence we associate with the Bird Sisters.

Deftly produced by the ubiquitous Ken Whiteley, the instrumental accompaniment is minimal, often a single guitar, perhaps with a mandolin, accordian, sax or bass, all of which enhances the Bird Sisters incomparable, oftentimes a cappella, harmonies.

More Praise for Angel Songs, Jude Vadala

Somewhere between hymns and contemporary folk lies Jude Vadala's Angel Songs. At times her sound is similar to Enya, but with definable lyrics carrying messages of hope from guardian angels. The gentle vocals are lightly augmented with recorder and soft bagpipes, her soprano is confident and angelic... she sings easily in all ranges, complimenting her own beautiful voice in an ethereal blend. (read less)
